Artist Statement

Tropical art in young people's minds today is different. It is bright and chromatic, highlighting a mix of cultural and aesthetic influences. It isn't the iconism depicted in Elvis posters, or the Volkswagen bus in old surf art. This is new.

The same household media any young artist can find around the house is what is used to paint a day-glo depiction of the tropics.

Using primarily Crayola markers, I draw upon various scenes sources of inspiration. It's a world of neon, a depiction of both organic and inorganic environments.

Simple and accessible media is used in an innovative way to produce a new genre of work that truly speaks from the heart in an authentic and bold fashion. This is creativity that breaks rules and is full of joy and spirit. This is tropical art for a future generation.
